The Quinta is within walking distance of three white sandy beaches, popular with surfers and families. Praia Grande hosts surfing championships. There are also many more beautiful beaches locally to visit by car and for windsurfers there is Guincho beach, (fifteen minutes away). There are also two local swimming pools within walking distance, with diving boards and slides, very popular with families.

The historic and cultural town of Sintra is twenty minutes away and can be visited using the local tram. It is filled with castles, palaces, gardens, cobbled streets, museums and cake shops! Described by Byron who lived there once, as – "a glorious Eden". Lisbon is 45 minutes by car, offering a rich and diversified culture.

Nearby villages include Azenhas do Mar; a small beautiful fishing village hanging on the vertical cliffs over the sea. Cabo do Roca; the westernmost point of the European Continent, defined by the poet Camões as "where the land ends and the sea begins" and Colares; a famous wine making village where the wine can still be sampled.

Cascais and Estoril (with the famous Estoril casino) are also within half an hours drive. Activities nearby include golf for example Penha Longa, Quinta da Marinha, Quinta da Beloura near Sintra and Clube de Campo at Belas, north of the Royal Palace at Queluz. Also on offer are horse-riding, artists workshops, yoga, water sports, walking, fishing, sailing, and tennis.



We have a special link with a local classical equitation school, offering lessons and week long clinics in classical dressage on Lusitano Horses.
